Microsoft Says Lumia Denim Update is Close

Android 5.0 Lollipop and iOS 8 may have been stealing the limelight recently, but there is another major platform update on the way. Microsoft has been preparing the latest update for its Lumia smartphones and revealed on Twitter today that, "roll out soon following testing and operator approvals."

Motorola's 2014 Moto X for Verizon Gets Android 5.0

Some of the early flyers of the Android 5.0 Lollipop flag are starting to get the update. We already told you about the LG G3 getting the patch, while Google's own Nexus device have also received it, as had NVIDIA's Shield Tablet. Next up is the Verizon version of the Moto X 2014, the latest smartphone flagship from Motorola.

LG G3 Getting Android 5.0 in South Korea this Week

LG said recently that its G3 flagship would be getting the bump to Android 5.0 Lollipop sometime this month, making it among the first third party smartphones to get the update. The good news is that is seems the roll out of Google's latest and greatest will start for the G3 this week, with the South Korean variant reported to be getting the update by Friday.

iOS App Downloads Up 42% to All-time High

App marketing firm Fiksu has revealed its latest data regarding app downloads through October and found that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus along with iOS 8 accounted for a huge jump in downloads to an all-time high. The new reports shows that there has been a 42% increase from September for the top 200 free iOS apps that the company tracked through October. Those applications accounted for 7.8 million downloads, a 39% increase from this time last year.

Even the most diehard of Apple fan should know that the iPhone is not head and shoulders better than any other smartphone. We could argue the finer details sure, but what sets it apart is appeal and then in turn sales. The only other device that has been able to live with the iPhone in recent years has been the Samsung Galaxy S flagship, but much like Apple's handset, the S series device is just another smartphone when you strip away its massive success.

The OnePlus Two, the OnePlus One 2, or the OnePlus One 2015. Whatever you call the follow up to OnePlus? industry defying flagship, the device is almost certain to find its way to the market in 2015. However, I would suggest that it would be late 2015 until it arrives as the Chinese company has still not fully rolled out the One and will be looking to maximize that smartphone's potential before moving on.

Dual-SIM handsets that allow the user to have two networks loaded onto one device are pretty common, especially in emerging markets. However, dual SIM tablets have yet to really make their presence felt, with not many device springing to mind that have the feature (The Asus Fonepad 7). Chinese brand ZTE is changing that with a slate that it is developing with dual-SIM functionality.

Considering Sony releases a new flagship every six months we are never too far away from a rumor concerning the company's upcoming high end releases. The Japanese giant may still be giving its all to the September launched Xperia Z3, but behind the scenes they are in the final development of the next flagship handset, the Xperia Z4. Sony normally rolls out its new smartphone in February, so we are only around two months away from seeing the new device.

Noted Analyst Predicts 71 Million iPhones Sold in Q4

Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus arrived in September to much fanfare and instantly began selling like proverbial hotcakes. The new devices crushed sales records through their launch window as Cupertino's year of growth continued with stellar third quarter results. Sales for the iPhone have grown year on year through each period and now one analyst is predication that this quarter will yield unbelievable numbers.
