Microsoft Says Revenues Up, Profits Down

Microsoft announced a mixed bag fourth quarter during its earnings call on Monday evening, with revenue up, but profits down. The company revealed that the Surface tablet range is growing, although despite that and improved revenue, the loss of income will be the talking point for the company.

Asus ZenWatch 2 could have 1 Week Battery Life

Asus's ZenWatch has only been with us a couple of months, launching in November after an announcement at IFA in September. It is one of the better looking smartwatches on the market, but its Android Wear platform means it doesn?t really come with any differentiating features and is the same as other wearables on the software. However, the next ZenWatch will add a bit more individuality.

Huawei has Record Breaking 2014

While Samsung and Apple dominate the smartphone market, there are several companies on their heels, and many of them have a legitimate claim on the third place in the market. Xiaomi, Lenovo, and LG spring to mind, but perhaps the strongest claim would come from Huawie, a company that outsold those rivals in 2014 and also raked in plenty of money too.

Xiaomi Mi Note Sells Out in Minutes

Xiaomi launched the Mi Note two weeks ago, and surprised many with the Mi Note Pro, a handset with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and 4GB of RAM. The Note has already been launched while the Mi Note Pro will land sometime in February or March. The Mi Note has proven to be a big early success, with Xiaomi saying an early run of units sold out in three minutes.

LG Could Sue Qualcomm Over Samsung Version of Snapdragon 810

The situation surrounding the Snapdragon 810 flagship processor looks to be turning ugly with LG threatening to sue manufacturer Qualcomm, according to some reports. There have been rumored issues with the processor, namely where it overheats, causing several high end smartphones (Samsung Galaxy S6 and LG G4 for example) to be delayed. As a result of Samsung?s issues, Qualcomm said it would modify the Snapdragon 810 and in effect give Samsung a bespoke version.

Microsoft Surface Increases Sales, $1.1 Billion Generated in One Quarter

Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 has had some ups and downs, but it seems as though the tablet is enjoying a bit of a surge right now. Microsoft has reported that it shifted a sizeable amount of Surface Pro during its fiscal Q2 2015 (Q4 2014 calendar).

It has been well documented that Apple has sold phenomenal amounts of iPhones since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launched back in September. However, the extent of sales through the Holiday Season seem to be on another level entirely according to noted KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Motorola Launches Moto X in China

Motorola announced earlier this month that the company is returning to China with three of its devices, the Moto X, Moto G LTE, and the Moto X Pro (a re-tooled Nexus 6). Today Motorola held an event in China to officially unveil those handsets and confirming their launch dates.

MediaTek Looking to Expand into US Market

MediaTek has been with us for a long time, but over the last year the chip making company is really starting to make its presence felt. The Chinese manufacturer used to build chipsets for low end devices coming from its home country, but it is now finding its tech in more high end smartphones, but more importantly, increasingly in handsets from marquee brands.
