Oppo announced the R5 today, the thinnest smartphone in the world. However, that is an accolade the device will only be keeping for a short time as reports today suggest Vivo is working on a handset that will be even thinner, measuring in at just 3.8mm.

The OnePlus One has had its fair share of problems since being announced last year, so we shouldn't be surprised that there have been issues with the pre-order system for the device. The affordable flagship has yet to have a serious roll out despite being on the market for months, along the way there have been marketing missteps, failed launches, and delays to production. OnePlus has now had to apologize for the latest setback.

Oppo N3 is a camera phone you probably won't want

Chinese brand Oppo held a launch event in Singapore today, and while the R5 grabbed attention as the world's thinnest smartphone, it is the N3 that is the star of the company's range. The new flagship arrived and once again showed off Oppo's unique way of getting the most from both the rear and front facing camera. However, there is more to this handset than just a funky camera housing even if it does have some problems.

Oppo R5 is the thinnest smartphone ever

Oppo's launch event today saw the Chinese company unveil two new devices, the N3 flagship and this, the Oppo R5, a handset that comes with a defining feature. This is the world's thinnest smartphone at just 4.85mm, beating out the current title holder, the Gionee Elife S5.1. It really does look amazing and Oppo has done a good job cramming some solid specs into that barely there chassis.
