Samsung's Galaxy A5 is made from cold stuff

Samsung rolled out the Galaxy Alpha last month. It was the company's first handset to be made from premium materials, boasting a metal chassis, although the Galaxy Note 4 has since followed that suit. I like the Alpha but it launched in the UK at a crazy price that makes it more expensive on contract than even full blown flagships. Samsung likes the device too and we have reported previously how the company is expanding the Alpha name and creating a whole series behind it.

Samsung planning mobile payment focused smartwatch

If Samsung has an idea, it makes a product for it. The Korean company already has six smartwatches in the market, but is reportedly developing a new one that will be focused on mobile payments. Obviously spurred on by Apple Watch and Apple Pay, Samsung is working on the new NFC oriented smartwatch to go alongside its numerous other efforts.

Pebble releases version 2.5 of its smartwatch software

Before all the tech giants embarked on the smartwatch wagon there was Pebble, the company that in some ways started a trend. The Pebble smartwatches may not be as high tech as the examples that followed from more established mobile players, but they are still functional pieces of kit. Pebble has now rolled out some new firmware for its wearable devices, bringing even more features to the party.

Google now requires developers to make their physical address public

Google has made some controversial changes to its requirements for app developers, now insisting that each one provides an actual physical address when filling in their app details page. The new rule was spotted by Jared Rummler, of JRummy Apps, who detailed the change of policy in a Google+ post and showed an image of the requirement as it is in the terms and conditions.

OnePlus One available for pre-order in October

The saga of the OnePlus One will be long remembered in tech circles, but there does seem to be some light at the end of the tunnel. PR disasters, case cancellations, delayed release dates and more may have halted the budget flagship, but what's left at the end is still an extremely good smartphone. For the money it costs, the OnePlus One is a masterpiece and now the company has confirmed that the device will be available for pre-order at the end of October.

Today is the new dawn of Sony's smartphone strategy after the company confirmed yesterday that it will be focusing on higher end devices and will not offer as many mid-range and low end devices. With that in mind, the company's latest batch of high end Xperia Z3 products are getting the kind of treatment other Sony devices rarely get. That's because they are arriving in the United States, and not months after launch either.

Apple co-founder and the general tech brains behind Steve Job's passion and drive, Steve Wozniak, has given his verdict on the iPhone 6 and seems to have given the device a thumbs up. That may seem a given, the company co-founder liking the newest product, but those familiar with "Woz?s" history will know that him liking an iPhone is a big deal.
