Smartphones pumping out of Sony's contracted factories have mostly been of the high-end variety with Qualcomm's top of the line Snapdragon processors or in the upper midrange with a weaker but still strong Snapdragon. It appears Sony may be moving toward lowering the costs of handsets by using MediaTek processors.

Watch the Samsung livestream for its new tablet unveiling on June 12

On June 12 at 7PM EDT, Samsung will take the stage at Madison Square Garden to debut a new line of tablets. It's likely that the event will be the introduction of the Galaxy Tab S series that may come in 8-inch and 10.5-inch varieties. The AMOLED displays and faux leather backs will be familiar hallmarks of Samsung's products, but other details are yet to be revealed. When the event finally kicks off, Samsung will stream all of the happenings live at the Samsung Mobile YouTube page.
